Club & Show News
First show of 2016 over and done with.
Good to see that our entries had slightly increased to 206 although we were disappointed not to have any Juvenile Pure Breed entries at this show.
The same dedicated few got up early on show day to set up. A special thank you to Denise and her husband, Kate and her Husband, Tracey, Sally and Michele.
A huge thank you, again, to Kate, as always, for her hard work in the kitchen, the buffet went down very well again. Lindsey helped her in the kitchen all day and a few went in and helped wash up etc, thank you.
Thanks to Ann who manned the sale pens for us, freeing Michele up to be our floor manager.
I know a few others were buzzing around helping so thank you very much.
A massive thank you to all those that stayed to help take down the show, more hands made light work and it was done in no time. A welcome early finish for some.
Thank you to the Judges, Julie Gallagher, Ian Reynolds, Kim Tolton and all their stewards.
Well done to ABC Stud for winning Best In Show with a Self Black, Claire Holloway for winning Best New & Emerging with a Californian, Guineapigwonderland for winning Best Guide Standard with a Swiss, Carly Franklin for winning Best Adult Owned Pet, Alice Mc Kelvey for winning Best Juvenile Owned Pet and Super Pet and Caspen Cavies for winning Best Veteran.
ANYONE ELSE WILLING TO HELP THE CLUB OR AT THE SHOW PLEASE CONTACT DENISE.
See you Saturday 24th September.
PET JUDGE REPORT – Essex Cavy Society 20 February 2016
Judge – Kim Tolton
Many thanks to Denise for asking me to step in and Judge Today’s Pet Cavy Classes. It has been 10 years since my last judging engagement, but I was up for the challenge. And I thoroughly an enjoyed it.
Huge thanks to Suzanne on book, and keeping me on track, I would also like to say a big thank you to Kelcie, Sian, Val, Clair & Sophie for working tirelessly stewarding throughout the day. Apologies if I have missed anyone else who helped make the day run so smoothly, with a good banter throughout.
It was wonderful to have almost 100 Cavies in the section, and I was delighted with the overall quality & condition of the Cavies being shown, the attention to grooming and how well handled they all were. There were a few exhibits with a touch of mite, and is a reminder to keep an eye on this as we move into spring. A few promising under 5’s that may make up to be exhibited in the purebred section.
With such a variety of breeds represented today, it was challenging deciding on the winning exhibits.
In the Adult Pet Section, My best pig was an easy win, with this super fit Silver Agouti Crested Sow exhibited by Carly Franklin. Well done Carly!
The Veteran Award went to Caspen Cavies, another very fit pig.
In the Juvenile section, the Super Pet Challenge was awarded to Alice McKelvey with an adult Crested boar.
Congratulations to you all.
